The summer session in the Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership program has helped me to further develop as an educator leader. Over the 8 weeks of coursework, I was pushed to think outside of my comfort zone, to take in different perspectives and to mold who I am as a leader. I have grown in knowledge of the field of intercollegiate athletics as well as in my communication skills and ability to lead individuals. I have a new drive that goes beyond "winning" on the athletics field, but also winning in the classroom and winning in life. Intercollegiate athletics is such a special field, and a place where we as leaders can make a HUGE difference.
As I go into the "real world" of intercollegiate athletics I want to push myself to never settle and to continually learn. I must learn from my peers, my superiors and most importantly from the student athletes. That is, after all what intercollegiate athletics is all about; the student- athlete. So I challenge myself, my classmates and all intercollegiate leaders to take in our surroundings, open our ears and make the world of intercollegiate athletics a better place.
